It’s All Happening

So many exciting things have been going on. It seems my idea to get Robert to blog is getting a little bit closer to becoming reality. Today instead of shooting the vmail, we sat around and talked about upcoming message series and also about the possiblity of starting a blog for Robert. I went out on a limb a little and just mentioned to Robert that it would be great if he were to start a blog. I could tell that someone else had been working on him about the idea of a blog (my guess is either Betsy or Scott) because he was very receptive. The next step is creating it and just seeing how it goes I guess. I suggested that he just try it a while before we “go public” with the fact he has a blog to the church. I’m really excited about the possibilities.

The great thing is that he already has a community of over 600 from MySpace that I’m sure would read it. I just discovered SpringWidgets thanks to Bill Seaver’s recent MySpace friend request. I learned that there is a widget (the word of the year I think) that can embed any RSS feed into your MySpace profile. This means that we can embed any blog that we create for Robert into his existing MySpace, which makes it easier for his current group of MySpace friends to access the content of his blog.

Speaking of Bill Seaver, I thought I’d drop some names and say that it was great getting to meet someone who is outside of my little San Antonio bubble who is doing something positive in regards to the Church and Web 2.0. I enjoyed talking with him over the weekend and want to plug his blog MicroExplosion to my minions of readers.

We also did some future planning for sermon series and even the exact subject matter of the sermons for upcoming weeks. I am really excited about the fact that I actually know what the sermons are going to be generally about going all the way until Mother’s Day in May! That means I can actually start planning some looks and videos for illustrations and support of the message. It would also be great to pass this info on to the music department so we could (gasp!) have music and message with corresponding themes and emotion. I’m excited. Could you tell?

10 points to anyone who can tell me what movie I am quoting in the title of this blog.
